Explore gene expression levels in different mouse and human immune system cells. Begin by entering a gene name (or alias) in the search bar to access a list of hits to navigate through.

When searching, you will encounter a "heatmap barcode" illustrating the expression level of the gene across various immune system cell lineages (such as B cells, T cells, Myeloid cells, etc). There are three datasets available for comparison: mouse RNA-seq, mouse microarray, and human RNA-seq.

By selecting a cell lineage icon, you can visualize the expression data in a bar chart format. Use the settings menu in the top right corner to switch between a logarithmic and linear axis. Note that in the microarray data, low expression values are partially obscured.

On the main "heatmap barcode" screen, pressing the "Show related genes" button will reveal a "gene constellation" view displaying the most correlated genes within specific population groups. By default, correlations are shown concerning key populations that span the entire immune system.

The data is sourced from the Immunological Genome Project, an international consortium funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIAID).
